As we welcome spring to the Berkshires and on the Farm, we would like to extend an invitation to mental health professionals, family members, and individuals with lived experience to join us for the Psychosis Care and Connection: A Retreat on Humanistic Approaches, from June 25-27, 2026 at Gould Farm in Monterey, MA.
This conference is a wonderful opportunity to share approaches to working with psychosis, where we hope to foster dialogue and nurture community through lectures, experiential events, and cultural engagement.
An exciting new addition to our conference this year is a Lived Experience Panel, which will be moderated by Stacey Henson, LCSW, ACSW, our director of clinical outreach. On this panel we will have a previous guest from Gould Farm and Fellside, a family whose loved one attended the Ellenhorn treatment program, as well as a clinician from Austen Riggs Center. Together, through their unique perspectives, we will explore the onset of symptoms, the process of navigating treatment systems, and the pivotal moments that sparked healing, connection, and renewed hope.
This session will invite conference participants to listen deeply to stories of struggle, meaning-making, and resilience, reminding us that stories of lived experience, alongside insights from seasoned clinicians, are an essential element for shaping compassionate, humanistic approaches to care and connection for people experiencing psychosis.
The Gould Farm Story
Gould Farm, founded in 1913, is the first residential therapeutic community in the nation dedicated to helping adults with mental health and related challenges move toward recovery and independence through community living, meaningful work, and clinical care.
We refer to our residents as “guests” and welcome them into a supportive community environment made up of staff and their families, most of whom live on our 700-acre campus in western Massachusetts. We help adults with depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia and other challenges rebuild and regain their lives. Gould Farm offers a full continuum of services from residential treatment to non-residential support in our extended community. Gould Farm maintains a robust outcomes study, which has shown statistically significant reduction in symptoms and gains in quality of life after an average stay of 6-9 months.
