On Sunday, May 21st, 2023, amidst a casual gathering of about 50 locals and Gould Farmers, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Roadside Store and Cafe took place!
Nestled along Route 23 in Monterey, the site for the new Roadside holds a special place in the hearts of locals and tourists alike. With its core mission of supporting our therapeutic work program for guests and a focus on Gould Farm-made ingredients sourced from our garden, farm, and bakery, the new Roadside is poised to return to being the cozy and welcoming hub for locals and tourists that it has been for decades!
A Welcoming Extension of Gould Farm
Roadside Store and Cafe represents the public face of Gould Farm in the Berkshires. It provides an avenue for our guests to engage in meaningful work with the public, fostering a sense of purpose and connection. While at Gould Farm for treatment, guests engage in about 26 hours per week of meaningful work. Roadside is one of seven work teams (farm, garden, bakery, kitchen, maintenance, and campus crew are the six others ) that guests can participate in. From taking orders to doing dishes to scrambling eggs, guest involvement at Roadside allows them to contribute their unique skills and learn new ones while serving customers, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere for all who visit.

Situated in the picturesque Berkshire region, and embracing the farm-to-table ethos for decades, the new Roadside will once again proudly showcase produce from our own garden and will feature dairy products, meat, and baked goods sourced from our farm and bakery. With each bite, visitors can savor the flavors of the region while supporting sustainable farming practices as well as our mission of serving adults recovering from mental health challenges.

Roadside Store and Cafe embodies the essence of a cozy gathering spot, where locals and visitors will once again be able to share laughter and stories while enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Whether it's a leisurely breakfast with loved ones, a quick catch-up over a cup of freshly brewed coffee, or a friendly chat with familiar faces, we can't wait to once again invite neighbors and friends to come together here! Roadside is one of those special places where connections are made and the spirit of community thrives, all while supporting an important mission.
