Mark Little (he/him)

Mark’s connection to Gould Farm runs deep, starting when he first arrived as a guest in 2007 while completing his degree in Human Ecology (focusing on land use and elementary education). While in college, he lived in an environmental co-op where he helped cook, maintain a garden, and host campus feasts, while also participating in the student movement that would become 350.org. His early background also includes working with dog teams and apprenticing with a sled dog outfit in Maine.

After his time as a guest, Mark stayed local, managing a beef and pig operation for a neighborhood farmer while working on other local farms. He returned to Gould Farm as a staff member on the Farm Team, where he helped project-manage the installation of the woodchip heating plant and overhaul the farm's composting systems. Mark later transitioned to the Maintenance Team, where he earned his Class 2 Wastewater license and helps manage the Farm's wastewater treatment plant. Beyond Gould Farm, Mark served three years on the local Conservation Commission, exploring the intersection of land use and human infrastructure.

Mark is drawn to tangible ways of practicing interdependence and community. Looking back on his early time on the Farm Team, his favorite memories are of being trusted with meaningful work, guided with care, and given the independence to grow. For Mark, the daily rhythms of shared work are a constant, grounding reminder that we cannot do life alone.

In his free time, Mark enjoys puttering around the house, gardening, obsessively turning the farm's compost, and helping out at Farm New Marlborough on weekends to stay connected to livestock.
