Work Program

Gould Farm's therapeutic program requires that guests participate in the Work Program, a team approach to managing the tasks involved in running the Farm. The therapeutic value of this program cannot be overstated.

The Work program provides hands-on training in meaningful work and is the basis for creating connections between guests and staff as they work side-by-side in the gardens, barns, woodlands, maintenance shop, kitchen, housekeeping and a variety of other areas that are essential to sustaining the community. Guests have the chance to provide support for some of the administrative tasks, learn the restaurant service and management business at our Roadside Café & Store, and join in the overall effort to maintain the integrity of the land upon which the Farm is situated. The Work Program creates the environment for guests to have an exceptional opportunity to build self-esteem through their work efforts and reap the benefits from the relationships they develop with their teammates as they support each other through their struggles with mental illness.
