Work Program
Roadside Café & Store Team
The Roadside Café & Store, located on Route 23 in Monterey, one mile from Gould Farm’s campus, is a small restaurant owned and operated by the Farm. One of only two restaurants in Monterey, “Roadside” is part of the Farm’s Work Program. Supervised by experienced restaurant staff, guests who are ready to interact in a very busy and sometimes stressful setting (that’s the nature of the restaurant business) find themselves working with the public, a real challenge for some.

Famous for its fresh farm food and, in particular its pancakes (Bon Appetit Magazine voted Roadside as one of the five best places in the country to have breakfast), the store is a popular breakfast and lunch stop for locals and tourists. Guests who work at Roadside can enhance their social skills, practice safe food handling and preparation, handle cash and credit card payments, order and restock merchandise and gain general business sense.
Reliability in work habits is a must and guests are urged to arrive on time, multi-task and be good team members. |
