Volunteer Opportunities
Gould Farm offers a rare opportunity for volunteers from around the world to participate in the life of this special community. Experienced, mature and sensitive individuals interested in helping people with mental illness rebuild their lives may apply for positions in areas that include clinical, residential, farm, forestry, food services and administration. Flexibility is essential. Volunteer commitments are generally for a year (some summer positions may also be available) and the Farm provides room and board, a stipend, health insurance and other benefits, as well as supervision by a senior staff member.

Gould Farm (The William J. Gould Associates, Inc.), Consulting Psychiatrist Contract Position
Compensation: Contract; divided into monthly installments Length of Contract: Annual; from agreed upon start date
Responsibilities:
-Providing a comprehensive evaluation and assessment of each guest (patient/client) of the Farm, and referring the
guest to an internist or medical specialist when indicated
-Prescribing psychiatric medication for guests, and follow-up visits as clinically indicated
-Provision of 24-hour telephone coverage to clinical staff for medication-related questions and psychiatric emergency
consultation
-Developing a collaborative partnership with guests for medication treatment
-Providing an assessment near the time of discharge
-Weekly consultation with the clinical team
-Working closely with nursing staff to support medication management with guests
-Providing advocacy and assistance in crisis intervention to facilitate hospitalization
-Providing in-service education and training to the clinical staff and community
Hours: At least one full day, weekly/bi-Weekly depending on needs of intake and case load. Gould Farm, Monterey, MA location (office on-site provided).
Vacation: Negotiable
Billing: Psychiatrist will bill the financially responsible party at fair market value for his services and will determine the fees and payment conditions.
License/Certification: Psychiatrist will be responsible for maintaining a Commonwealth of MA Board of Registration in Medicine Active License. A copy of this license along with his DEA certificate will be supplied annually and copies will remain on file. MUST HAVE CURRENT MA BOARD CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE.
Insurance: Psychiatrist will be responsible for maintaining professional liability insurance and will provide Gould Farm with documentation of such coverage yearly.
Appointments: Gould Farm will be responsible for scheduling guest appointments with Psychiatrist, verifying guest insurance coverage, obtaining prior authorization coverage if required, and communication service and insurance information to Psychiatrist's billing staff.
Discharge Plans: Gould Farm will be responsible for identifying and coordinating guest discharge plans and follow-up care with the guest and their families.
Termination: Either party (Gould Farm or Psychiatrist) can terminate the contract for any reason by providing three months’ written notice.
